Is there hope for me? I am hopelessly a lefty....

Avila Beach

I want to go back. Perfect weather. Not too many people there. Although I should have brought the big camera. My daughter was actually willing to let me take pictures of her and all I brought was my little Canon Rebel Xsi with a 50mm 1.8 lens! Murphy needs a swift kick in the pants. Yes, I know that you can still take great pictures with that camera/lens but I like having the option to zoom in and avoid getting that guy with his well developed rootbeer belly in the picture!

Senior Announcement Picture Option #1

I wish that this picture looked the same way on Blogger as it does on my computer monitor but I guess I'll save that problem for another day! Here is Option #1. I've been playing around with different actions and overlays trying to achieve a different look. I still have several more to go but I am done for tonight :)

Class of 2011

Scary to think that she's a senior. Wish my legs looked that good! It's nice to see that all those years of soccer, running, and the gym have finally paid off...

Light Play

I recently purchased some really cool .png and .jpg files that are used as overlays on other pictures. They are picture files with different types of light e.g. streams of light, bokeh, etc. that you lay over another image. They are so easy to use and so much fun. The pictures that I used were ones that I had laying around so to speak. I can't wait to try this out on some other pictures tomorrow. But since I have to be up in a few hours it won't be happening now!

Old Blue Eyes

I sure love his big blue eyes. I'm sure one day soon (hopefully not too soon!) I will be chasing girls off my front porch.

The Project That Never Ends

Still working on my Portfolio Project for Photo 32 (Commercial Portraiture). I have to meet with the printer in the morning and I'm still not done. So, I guess that means I'll have to make another trip hopefully no later than Monday since my project is due May 9th.  All the pictures need to be matted and put into a portfolio before then. Ugh.... I need more time! I would really like to go out and shoot some more since I've had to rush every time that I have gone out so far. Guess that's what I get for having busy kids...

Work in Progess

Here are a few more contenders for my Final Portfolio Project. I haven't quite decided if I'm completely happy with the editing of these pictures but I was forced to surrender since my computer was running SO SLOW! Fortunately, the computer has a doctor appointment in the morning at Apple. They say an Apple a day keeps the doctor away.....WRONG!!! It keeps me from throwing said computer out the window!

**Update: The computer had it's physical yesterday and Dr. Apple at the Genius Bar suggested I stop leaving it on all night and made a few adjustments. With that now taken care of, I am definitely going to re-edit most of these pictures. I don't know why the skin texture looks so funky. I'm thinking (scary, I know) it has something to do with the actions I used.

One Tough Dude

Well, okay maybe not too tough but definitely too cute! I have been trying out some Actions I recently uploaded to Photoshop. They're kinda fun I must say!

Photoshop Before and After

One my goals for this year is to work on my Photoshop skills. This is one of my all-time favorites. I added a paint filter and used Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 for the black and white conversion. I went back in and selected his face (actual and reflection) to lighten up just those areas. I am excited because today I am taking this picture to a REAL print shop and having a 16 x 20 print made. As much as I love Costco's printing I think this picture deserves the best!

**Note to self: Remember to shoot in RAW!** I wonder what I could've done if I had :)

Portfolio Project...A Continuation

The first picture is one that I took a few weeks ago for a Flash Project. It was so bright outside and I had to use my flash, so needless to say, it wasn't the best exposure! I ran it through Photoshop and it's still not quite finished but I am surprised how much better it looks. I may end up using it in my portfolio as part of my final (assuming I can get the color of the grass a little better). The second picture required my group to find a couple of bad dudes to pose for us in the studio. It's not the easiest thing to get a couple of guys to do this but these two were good sports and endured more than a couple of pictures!

Portfolio Project...Work In Progress

Here is another picture that I may add to the Final Portfolio project for my Commercial Portraiture class. Thank goodness my friend Kate is such a good sport. Better she than ME in front of the lens!

Studio Take 2...again

Here are a few more pictures from yesterday's shoot. Enjoy!

**Update: Ok maybe you won't enjoys these pictures all that much...I really need to work on them a little more lol!

Studio Take 2

Doesn't she look like an All-American girl? It's hard to believe that she graduates in two months!
